Introduction to the Vine Collection

The Vine (Vitis vinifera and V. labrusca) collection was planted in 1992. The collection consists of 51 accessions, with three replicates of five plants for most varieties. A spacing of 2.5 m x 1.5 m has been used and the collection covers 0.24 hectares. Some cultivars have been planted elsewhere, as indicated. Vines are on SO4 rootstock and are trained according to the double guyot system.

Names in brackets, unless otherwise indicated represent synonyms. The majority of the collection is located in the field as indicated on the map on page 8, but some varieties are to be found in the orangery (OR) or adjacent to the office block (OB)
